It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that Kumi University announces the untimely passing of Mr. Ariong Timothy, a final-year student in the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology, who was in the last semester of his Bachelor of Computer Science program.
Mr. Ariong Timothy was a humble innovator and a proud member of the Kumi University community, widely recognized as the creator of the award-winning Smart Walk-Behind Tractor. He was involved in a tragic motor accident that resulted in severe head injuries, including bleeding in the brain, and had been unconscious since Saturday evening.
Following the accident, he was admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he underwent medical treatment and surgery. Despite the dedicated efforts of the medical team and the unwavering prayers and support from family, friends, staff, students, and well-wishers, he sadly passed away today, 6th May 2026 at approximately 10:00 AM.
Timothy’s passing is a great loss to the University. He will be remembered for his innovation, humility, and the inspiration he brought to those around him. His contribution to the field of technology and his impact as a student will not be forgotten.
On behalf of the entire Kumi University fraternity, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends, classmates, lecturers, and all who have been affected by this painful loss. We call upon the University community and the general public to keep his family in prayers for strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time.
