Stakeholder Engagement on the Development of a Competence-Based Curriculum

The Kumi University successfully held a Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on the Development of a Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) at the Truth Auditorium on 6th March 2026. The engagement brought together key stakeholders from different sectors to contribute insights toward strengthening the university curriculum.


The workshop marks an important step as the university embarks on developing and implementing a Competence-Based Curriculum, in preparation to receive students under the new curriculum framework expected in August 2027. The aim was to ensure that academic programmes align with labour market demands and equip graduates with practical competencies.


A key session focused on “Issues and Challenges of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Employability of Kumi University Graduates.” Gloria Mukova (Social Sciences).


The workshop attracted several stakeholders including the District Inspector of Schools – Ngora, Head Teacher – Ngora High School, Principal Human Resource Officer – Kumi District Local Government, Development Officer – Kumi District Local Government, Senior Records Officer – Kumi District Local Government, Community Development Officer – Nyero Town Council, Manager – IDI Uganda, and the Bishop – PAG Kumi among others who shared valuable perspectives during the discussions.


In her closing remarks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, who represented the Vice Chancellor, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their participation and valuable contributions. She encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained with others and urged stakeholders to maintain close collaboration with the university, noting that their feedback is vital for institutional growth. She also appreciated the organizing team, including the Academic Registrar, Quality Assurance Officer, Deans, Heads of Departments, and Lecturers, for successfully coordinating the workshop

The engagement reaffirmed Kumi University’s commitment to collaborative curriculum development and to producing graduates equipped with relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies for national development.
