Kumi University Launches Inspiring Week of Patriotism Training

Kumi University, on Monday, 6th October 2025, officially kicked off a transformative Patriotism Training Program aimed at instilling discipline, unity, and national pride among students and staff. The week-long training will continue until Friday, 10th October 2025, excluding Thursday, which is a public holiday. The official pass-out ceremony will take place on Monday, 13th October 2025.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kumi District, alongside LC3 Councillors, the NRM District Chairperson, and several distinguished guests. Their attendance highlighted the strong collaboration between Kumi University and the district leadership in advancing patriotism, civic responsibility, and national values.,

In his welcoming remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jong-In Hong, warmly welcomed all guests, patriots, staff, and students—whom he described as “the heartbeat of our University.”

Prof. Hong reaffirmed the University’s commitment to holistic education, emphasizing that “Amina eong Uganda kede Africa kere,” meaning “I love Uganda and Africa as a whole.” He added that Kumi University not only nurtures competent professionals but also responsible citizens with integrity and a spirit of service.

“Patriotism is not just about raising the flag,” he said. “It is about integrity and service above self—committing ourselves to building a peaceful and prosperous Uganda.”

He further encouraged staff to take an active part in the training, noting that their involvement “speaks louder than any class lecture.” He concluded by wishing everyone a fruitful and reflective week of learning and engagement.

The Patriotism Training reflects Kumi University’s mission of promoting Godliness, excellence, and servanthood, and its dedication to shaping students who are not only academically sound but also socially responsible citizens.
