Kumi University is undertaking a digital transformation to enhance academic and administrative efficiency. The University is developing an integrated Kumi University Education Management Information System (KUEMIS) based on ERPNext, alongside key platforms such as Moodle for e-learning, Koha for library services, a Research Repository, and others.
To support this ambitious initiative, the University seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Systems Developer with strong expertise in systems integration and customization of ERPNext, DSpace and Moodle.
Position: Systems Developer
Reports to: Director, ICT and Systems Innovation
Duty Station: Kumi University Main Campus
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (3 Years, Renewable Based on Performance)
Key Responsibilities:
– Customize and extend ERPNext to meet the specific academic and administrative needs of Kumi University.
– Customize and configure Moodle LMS to align with the university’s online teaching and learning objectives.
– Develop and implement integration solutions across systems such as ERPNext, Moodle, Koha, Research Repository, and third-party platforms (e.g., NIRA, UNEB, SchoolPay Uganda).
– Design and deploy APIs and middleware services for seamless data exchange and synchronization.
– Support the maintenance and repair of university computer systems and devices.
– Manage and optimize the Campus Area Network and server infrastructure.
– Deploy and manage on-premises and cloud-based applications.
– Enforce cybersecurity measures and ensure system compliance with best practices.
– Maintain comprehensive system documentation and technical guides.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
– At least 2 years of hands-on experience in systems development and integration.
– Proven experience in customizing and deploying ERPNext modules (e.g., Admissions, Student Records, Finance, HR).
– Strong background in Moodle LMS customization, including plugin integration, theme design, and user roles.
– Proficiency in Linux system administration, especially on Ubuntu and other Debian-based distributions.
– Experience in API development, web services (REST, JSON, XML), and system scripting.
– Familiarity with basic network configuration and support.
Added Advantages:
– Master’s degree in a relevant field.
– Certifications in Cybersecurity (e.g., CEH, CISSP), Linux, or Networking (e.g., CCNA, Network+).
– Knowledge of Docker, Git, cloud platforms (RENU Cloud, AWS, etc.), and database management (MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
– Experience working in a higher education environment.
